Dear Nowell and Company Customer Family:

We want to keep you informed about the current furniture industry situation, lead time and delays. You may have received a letter from us recently if you are on our mailing list (if not, please sign up by scrolling to the bottom of this page and entering your email or contacting us with your mailing address).

After such as challenging year, it has certainly been a pleasure to see our Nowell and Company friends and families back in the showroom. Our showroom stock is as strong as ever. We have an excellent selection of bedroom, dining room, kitchen and occasional furnishings, lighting, artwork, carpets, and accessories. Inventory can be purchased directly off the floor for immediate delivery.

Our in-house custom workrooms are fully staffed and primarily back on schedule. Workrooms include carpets, drapery, reupholster, custom bed linens, and wallpaper. These custom orders are being completed in our usual time frame.

The most significant dilemma we face at Nowell and Company is with custom special order upholstery.  This is an industry-wide and national issue caused by a long list of problems with a domino effect. Demand, COVID shutdowns, backups with shipping companies, and labor issues are the basis, but now the most significant issue the Upholstery companies face is a national foam shortage! Our usual lead time on special orders is about two months. Under these current problems, our lead times for special orders have stretched to around six months.

If you are planning a design project that includes new upholstery and a particular deadline (such as a wedding or holiday party) you will need to adjust your timeline. You order WILL ARRIVE and will be as beautiful as ever. The lead times are just longer than expected.

Custom upholstery is the way  you always get exactly the comfort, proportion, and fabric you want. It is the only way to get the desired effect and there is no substitution. So do not veer away from our original plan to redecorate. Instead, start the process earlier than you may have planned. Then, get your order in the production line. We promise the finished product is well worth the wait.
